If you ride in Vancouver, the North Shore isn’t just a destination — it’s a rite of passage. The steep, rooty slopes of Mount Seymour, Mount Fromme, and Cypress Mountain are where mountain biking was born. These rugged forests and loamy lines shaped modern freeride culture and continue to attract riders from around the world.
At More Bikes, we’re lucky enough to live and ride here every day. With three locations in West Vancouver Ambleside, UBC’s Wesbrook Village, and Kitsilano, we’re surrounded by some of the best mountain bike trails on earth. Here’s our guide to the North Shore’s three legendary peaks and what makes each one special.
Mount Seymour: Flow Meets Freeride

If you’re new to the Shore or just looking for smoother flow, Mount Seymour is your go-to mountain. It combines approachable climbs with playful descents, making it perfect for riders of all levels.

Top Seymour Trails:
-
John Deere (Blue): A local favourite — fast, rooty, and flowy from top to bottom. Ideal for riders moving up from intermediate terrain.
-
Severed D (Black): A steep, technical line that embodies classic North Shore style.
-
Asian Adonis (Black): A creative trail full of ladders, natural rock rolls, and quick transitions.
-
Good Sir Martin (Blue): The main climb trail — smooth, well-graded, and perfect for repeated laps.
Bike tip: Seymour shines on a trail or all-mountain bike like the Rocky Mountain Instinct or Giant Trance. Light enough to climb, tough enough to handle everything this mountain throws at you.
Mount Fromme: The Heart of the Shore

Mount Fromme is pure North Shore heritage. This is where freeride legends were born, and the craftsmanship shows — hand-built features, iconic woodwork, and loamy singletrack.

Top Fromme Trails:
-
Bobsled (Blue): Machine-built flow that’s fast, forgiving, and addictive.
-
Expresso (Black): Arguably Vancouver’s most famous trail — fast, root-filled, and endlessly fun once you learn its rhythm.
-
7th Secret → Leopard → Crinkum Crankum → Kirkford: A complete Shore descent that captures every style of riding in one run.
-
Ladies Only (Double Black): A true classic, rich in wooden features and technical challenges.
Bike tip: A capable enduro or trail bike with a dropper post and strong brakes is essential. A Rocky Mountain Altitude or Kona Process handles Fromme’s variety perfectly.
Cypress Mountain: The Wild One

Cypress is the Shore’s raw, rowdy sibling — steep, rugged, and less polished than its neighbours. The vertical drop is big, the trails are long, and the stoke is real.

Top Cypress Trails:
-
Sex Girl (Black): A high-speed, root-filled run that keeps you on your toes.
-
Roach Hit → Family Guy: A local favourite for mixing old-school tech with modern flow.
-
Pull Tab (Blue): A smoother, more forgiving descent for those learning Cypress terrain.
-
Wild Cherry / Cherry on Top (Black): Steep, natural, and deeply rewarding.
Bike tip: Bring a long-travel enduro mountain bike — something like a Rocky Mountain Slayer, Giant Reign, or Kona Process X — and a solid full-face helmet from our helmet collection.
Prep for the Ride
The Shore is beautiful — but it’s brutal on bikes. Wet roots, heavy rain, and sharp rock slabs will test every bolt. Before you head up the mountain, make sure your ride is dialed. Our crew at More Bikes knows exactly what your bike needs to stay running smooth.
We sell Rocky Mountain, Cannondale, Giant, and Kona Mountainbikes. We are your one-stop shop for bike sales and service.
Visit us in West Vancouver Ambleside, Kitsilano, or UBC Wesbrook Village for:
-
Suspension rebuilds, brake bleeds, and drivetrain overhauls
-
Leatt riding gear and pads and Smith helmets and eyewear for all-weather rides
Our mechanics ride these same trails every week. We know how the North Shore eats bikes — and how to keep yours trail-ready.
North Shore Motto: “If It’s Not Wet, It’s Not the Shore.”
Rain or shine, the North Shore delivers. It’s not about chasing perfection — it’s about progression. Every lap teaches something new, and every root-covered climb earns its reward. Whether you’re chasing flow on John Deere, railing berms on Expresso, or testing your nerve on Family Guy, these mountains will push you to ride better and ride more.
See you out there.
